An unusual and truly grandiose project was brought to life not so long ago in Saint Petersburg. Grand Maket is not even Russia in miniature, but rather Russia in its ideal form. The author of this creation is Sergey Borisovich Morozov, who put into his brainchild everything that, in his opinion, should exist in an ideal Russia.
Grand Maket brings together almost all the regions of this huge and wonderfully diverse country with their characteristic features. The largest cities proudly display their most famous monuments and landmarks, while tiny trains dart between them, passing blue lakes and picturesque mountains.
In the cities and villages live little people - no more than two centimeters tall, but very realistic. They go about the most ordinary things: repairing tiny cars, serving in perfectly reproduced military uniforms, playing musical instruments, and even painting graffiti on the walls of their homes.
Trains and cars move along programmed routes, but Grand Maket also has static sections that you can set in motion yourself. Press a button and you will see a fire brigade putting out a forest fire, or lumberjacks chopping down trees.
The latest computer technologies were used to create this "interactive" Russia in miniature, producing the full effect of real life in a small country. Grand Maket stretches for more than 90 meters in length, and its area is about 800 square meters. Here even sunsets and sunrises take place every 15 minutes!
