Prague Audio Guide #2: Josefov Jewish Quarter
From Old Town Square, along Pariska and Siroka streets, we will make our way to the beautiful Spanish Synagogue and the distinctive Franz Kafka Monument. From there, our route continues to the Old-New Synagogue and the Jewish Town Hall. After that, we head to Pinkas Synagogue, visit the Holocaust Memorial, and see the oldest Jewish cemetery in Europe.
Then comes a captivating story about Mordechai Maisel, the richest, most remarkable, and most visionary burgomaster of Prague's Jewish Town, and about the splendid Maisel Synagogue he founded. The walk ends on Marianske Square, where we tell you how Prague was saved from the plague - and on which street you can still encounter a headless knight.
The Spanish Synagogue. Beautiful on the outside, but inside it is an absolute masterpiece! The dome, the walls, the vaults - everything is covered in delicate Moorish ornament. A true feast of color, gold, and stucco. You have to see it with your own eyes.
