Let's start with Old Town Square and the Jewish Quarter. This is the first stop for almost everyone arriving in Prague. Here you'll find the famous Orloj clock, the House at the Minute, the site where Jan Hus's followers were executed, and the chance to wander through the mysterious Jewish quarter of "Josefov".

We've already mentioned the Astronomical Clock (Orloj). Prague's famous clock is not only beautiful, but fascinating too. It shows several dimensions of time: regular hours, days, months, years, as well as the positions of the Moon, the Sun, and the signs of the zodiac.

Right here on Old Town Square you'll find another of Prague's headline sights – Tyn Church, one of the city's defining symbols. Officially known as the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, it was built between the 14th and 16th centuries.

Next, head for the instantly recognizable Charles Bridge. It stands on 16 massive arches and is adorned with 30 Baroque sculptures. Most importantly, the first stone in its foundation was laid by Emperor Charles IV himself.
The bridge's most famous sculpture is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, who was killed on the king's orders for refusing to reveal the queen's confession. Legend says that when the saint's body sank into the water, five stars appeared above the surface. They are the clue that will help you find his statue.

To see two more of Prague's signature sights, you'll need to cross to the other bank of the Vltava. Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral are among the city's great landmarks. The cathedral, a monumental Gothic resting place of Czech kings, became one of Europe's most famous long-running building projects – construction lasted almost 600 years, from the mid-14th to the early 20th century.

After Prague Castle, stop by Golden Lane, lined with gingerbread-like houses. It got its name because alchemists settled here in the Middle Ages. Later, Franz Kafka lived here, and today the lane is full of charming cafes and little shops.

Wenceslas Square deserves a visit of its own. Wenceslas Square is one of the city's largest and most famous squares. Come at any hour – it's always lively, with plenty of places to take a break and grab a bite.

You'll also want to make a separate trip to admire the Dancing House. The building is an architectural metaphor for a dancing couple. It's even jokingly called "Ginger and Fred" after Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.
