A Detailed Audio Tour of Milan
We begin this tour by examining the exterior of the Duomo and recounting the centuries-long story of its construction. Then we invite you inside to explore every section of this grand cathedral step by step. From the centre we will head to the stained-glass windows and altars of the right nave. Next we return to the middle, where the famous Quadroni di San Carlo Borromeo hang, and proceed to the main altar. After that, we meet what is perhaps the Duomo's most celebrated statue – the sculpture of Saint Bartholomew – and tour the apse. On the way out we draw your attention to the ancient baptistery and the unique sundial. And this enlightening stroll finishes with a visit to the Duomo's rooftop!
The statue of Saint Bartholomew is one of the most famous in the cathedral. During the audio tour we will reveal why he was flayed alive and why the sculptor chose to depict the martyr so graphically.
