1. Big Ben – the famous clock tower that embodies British precision and punctuality. Together with the Houses of Parliament, it forms one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the world.

2. Buckingham Palace – the official residence of the British monarchs. This is where you can see the royal guards in red tunics and bearskin hats and, if you are lucky, catch the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

3. The Tower of London. Founded in 1078, this fortress has served as a palace, treasury, prison, arsenal, and even a zoo, and today it is one of the city’s top attractions.

4. Trafalgar Square, named after the British navy’s greatest victory, is surrounded by landmark buildings such as the National Gallery and St Martin-in-the-Fields. Nelson’s Column rises in the center of the square.

5. St Paul’s Cathedral, standing on London’s highest point, can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. It is as iconic a symbol of the British capital as the Tower or Buckingham Palace.

6. The National Gallery holds works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Velázquez, El Greco, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, and many other great artists of the world.

7. Westminster Abbey – the traditional coronation and burial site of British monarchs. This beautiful Gothic church is also home to Poets’ Corner, where Dickens, Chaucer, and other famous writers are buried.

8. Hyde Park – central London’s great park, famous for Speakers’ Corner, where anyone can stand up and deliver a fiery speech. The picturesque Kensington Gardens adjoin the park.

9. Madame Tussauds. In this legendary wax museum, you can see nearly every world celebrity – not in person, of course, but in remarkably lifelike form.

10. The London Eye – one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world. From a height of 135 meters, roughly the equivalent of 45 stories, you get a wonderful view across the whole city.
