1. Sagrada Família (Temple of the Holy Family) – the universally recognised symbol of Barcelona. The genius architect Antoni Gaudí devoted most of his life to it, creating a stunningly beautiful church unlike anything else in the world.

2. The Gothic Quarter – the historic heart of the city, home to a wealth of medieval buildings. Its crowning jewel is the majestic Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia.

3. La Rambla – a street that buzzes with life day and night. Street performers, artists, and musicians who have made this seaside boulevard their stage are always ready to showcase their talents for a modest tip.

4. Park Güell, designed by Antoni Gaudí in the early 20th century, is a fantasy world where straight lines and dull colours simply don't exist – but imaginative shapes and textures are everywhere you look.

5. Mount Tibidabo – the highest point in the city. It is crowned by the Temple of the Sacred Heart and a statue of Christ embracing the world. The panoramic views of Barcelona from here are absolutely magnificent!

6. The Picasso Museum houses more than 3,800 works by the great artist, including paintings from his Blue Period and reinterpretations of Velázquez's masterpieces.

7. La Boqueria Market. Not sure what to bring back for friends? Head to the city's oldest market and pick up the finest jamón, cheeses, olives, and wines!

8. Casa Milà and Casa Batlló – two more famous examples of Antoni Gaudí's genius. The first is renowned for its undulating façade, striking interiors, and fantastically sculpted rooftop. The second stands out for its whimsical "bone-like" ornamentation.

9. Montjuïc Hill is home to several beautiful parks, the Magic Fountain with its music-and-light show, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, and many more attractions.

10. Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) – an open-air museum featuring full-scale replicas of famous buildings from every region of Spain, spanning different historical periods. It is also home to more than 20 artisan workshops.
