One of the few free beaches in the city and the closest to the center of Athens remains consistently popular with tourists and locals. On weekends it can get very crowded here, and for a sun lounger and umbrella (if you're lucky enough to find available ones) you will have to pay a few euros, so it is better to bring your own — this is allowed.
The swimming season in Athens lasts from April to October, but this beach is more suitable for sunbathing. The water may not be the cleanest, but the location is very convenient, and it is easy to get here by public transport or by car. However, this can also cause some inconvenience — the narrow strip of beach sand lies in immediate proximity to the highway. It can also be difficult to find a parking space.
The beach has changing cabins, a volleyball court, and several snack bars. Toward evening, local young people gather here: numerous open-air clubs stay open all night until dawn.
On both sides, the beach is bordered by marinas, with the largest in the world to the south and the most luxurious in the Mediterranean region to the north. So those who want to see impressive yachts, nimble sports boats, or real fishing boats should definitely visit this place.
