Above a small but very elegant building in the prestigious Beyoglu district, the tricolor French flag proudly flies. This is the General Consulate of France in Istanbul, dealing with the widest range of issues. Visa processing, citizenship and civil registry matters, consular registration, the specifics of studying in Turkey, and much more...
The consulate building is located not far from Taksim Square, and it was acquired by the French as far back as the 18th century. Before this building passed into foreign ownership, it housed healthcare institutions.
In addition to the General Consulate, today this building also houses the French Cultural Center, whose main goal is to organize cultural exchange. A wide variety of concerts, exhibitions, performances, and conferences are regularly held here.
