On the lively Cava Baja street, among numerous bars and restaurants, there is an establishment that seems unremarkable at first glance - the Casa Lucio tavern. Its founder, Lucio Blazquez, once started out as a waiter in small Madrid establishments. The young man was greatly loved by customers, thanks to which word about him spread very quickly, and the entire city truly knew him.
By 1973, Lucio decided to open a tavern in his own home. The host's welcoming and friendly nature and the traditional home cooking once brought none other than the King of Spain, Juan Carlos, to Casa Lucio! They say that after that the monarch not only stopped by this tavern quite often, but also became a friend of Lucio.
Today, Casa Lucio is a place that perfectly conveys the spirit of an old tavern. Its walls are covered with meat delicacies and jamon, and guests are invited to try dishes of traditional national cuisine. The roster of the tavern's "devoted" patrons also remains unchanged from year to year: Spain's most famous performers, politicians, and journalists regularly come to visit Lucio.
